LCD panel Innolux has become the globally second largest supplier of automotive applications, and as it has been tapping the Japan and China markets and seen stable demand in the US and Europe for such displays, it aims to become the worldwide top maker, according to the company.

Innolux supplies automotive display panels for automakers on an OEM basis and for after-market sale, with OEM clients including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche and Tesla. Innolux expects to ship 8-9 million automotive display panels in 2016, with OEM and after-market each accounting for 50%.

In addition to functionality, its automotive display panels have to fit into the vehicles' interiors and therefore they are curved-surface models with curvature ranging from 170mm to 500mm, Innolux indicated. The automotive applications are equipped with anti-glare and anti-reflective cover glass and in-cell touch sensors, Innolux noted.
