LCD material demand in China is expected to rise from 116 tons in 2014 to 150 tons in 2015 largely due to TV panel production expansion.

According to Sigmaintell Consulting, In 2015 alone substrate surface demand in China will reach nearly 100 million square meters and that number is expected to rise to more than 110 million in 2017 as makers open new capacity at 8.5G fabs.

China makers will surpass Taiwan makers in LCD panel shipments in 2017 and are expected to surpass Korea makers in 2018. These trends coupled with an incline in average-size panel shipped will lead to increased demand for LCD materials, most of which are expected to come from local makers in China.

Sigmaintell also said China polarizer demand is on the rise. In 2014 demand was at 65 million square meters and in 2018 demand will increase to as high as 180 million.
