• Performance enhancements: China makers are shifting to HD digital LCD screens from analog types to enhance the display quality. Up to 800x480 pixels are supported by 6 to 8in units. Some models even pack touchscreens. Companies are employing Arm11 processors for their stable performance and low power consumption.
  
• Multifunctionality: Suppliers are integrating GPS navigation, digital TV and RDS functions, and Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and iPod, iPhone and iPad connectivity. Other features such as rear camera and TPMS can be added on request. A growing number of in-dash DVD players also support more A/V formats such as AAC, RMVB and MOV, and OS, including Windows CE and Android.
  
• Anti-theft & -shock designs: Detachable panels will continue to be widely used for their anti-theft attributes. Makers are adopting mechanical and electronic anti-shock systems to ensure product durability.
  
• Price forecast: Some makers expect rates to increase by 5 percent in 1H12 due to rising labor and raw material costs. Others forecast a markdown of 5 to 10 percent because of stiff competition.
